“There is a picture in A&E loaned by your organisation. It takes me to a different place. I thought you should know that your work not only helps the ill get better - it helps the well stay well.” Police Officer, Glan Clwyd Hospital
At Paintings in Hospitals, we use art to inspire better health and wellbeing.
Our charity holds a unique and important place in the history of arts in health. We are one of the longest-established organisations in the UK and our art collection is the first and only one of its kind.
Through our art collection and through our hands-on workshops, we help to create care spaces that enrich, encourage and empower service users and staff. We believe that art is for everyone. Any health and social care organisation can borrow from our art collection and everyone is welcome to participate in our talks, tours, and workshops.
The Paintings in Hospitals collection holds over 4,000 artworks, including pieces by Kyffin Williams, Bridget Riley, John Piper, Antony Gormley, Ian Davenport, Maggi Hambling, Andy Warhol, and many more.
Paintings in Hospitals was founded in 1959 and we now work with over 180 health and social care partners in Wales, England and Northern Ireland.
We have six decades of experience to share. If you would like information, advice, or to become one of our care partners, get in touch.
