I am Research Fellow at the George Ewart Evans Centre for Storytelling at the University of South Wales. My research focusses on performance, autobiographical stories and the body in a variety of contexts including feminist performance art, narratives of illness, storytelling and health, performance and the maternal, and performance and disability. Details of all my recent publications are available at http://staff.southwales.ac.uk/users/1418-efunderw.
I have an ongoing interest in how we tell our stories of illness and health. I have created a number of performances exploring my own breast cancer and maternal health stories, these have been shared in hospitals, theatres, medical conferences and other contexts. I continue to collaborate with artists and organisations to facilitate other people to tell their health narratives. I co-convened the ‘Storytelling for Health’ conference which took place in Swansea in June 2017 and am lead researcher on the follow up research exploring the impact of the conference and the state of storytelling for health in Wales.
